SRC Launches Water Project To Address Campus Water Crisis

The Students Representative Council (SRC) at the Nyankpala campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS) took a giant step at addressing the campus water crisis with the successful launch of a Water Project on Friday, 3rd May, 2024. The initiative, spearheaded by the Swaad-Aikins led administration is aimed at providing accessible and affordable water for the student populace.

As part of the project, the SRC has strategically installed poly-tanks at vantage points on the Campus to ensure that students have convenient access to water. The primary objective is to minimize the water scarcity and make water more readily available to students at a reasonable cost.

The Water and Sanitation Committee of the SRC, at the forefront of this initiative, has been actively engaged in executing the project's core objectives. The Committee’s efforts have been instrumental in ensuring the smooth implementation of the water project.

The Principal of the Nyankpala Campus, Prof. Muhammed Muniru Iddrisu congratulated the SRC for their commendable efforts at resolving the perennial water crisis on campus. He lauded the initiative and described it as a positive step towards addressing the prevalent water crisis faced on the Nyankpala Campus. The Principal pledged his full support for the SRC to ensure success of this vital initiative.

Since its launch, the SRC has been able to distributed over 400 gallons of water to students. Additionally, the Students Representative Council has introduced home delivery services to further enhance accessibility of water to students and remains committed to continuously supply water on a regular basis to students with ongoing efforts to expand the capability of the project.

The Water Project stands as a testament to the SRC's unwavering dedication to addressing critical campus issues and prioritizing the welfare of the student community. As the project progresses, the SRC looks forward to making a lasting impact on campus life by ensuring a sustainable and reliable water supply to all students.
