The University for Development Studies (UDS) is proud to celebrate the recent academic achievement of Dr. Mubarik Salifu, a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the School of Economics, Nyankpala Campus. Dr. Salifu was honored with the esteemed School of Graduate Studies Dean's Award for Academic Excellence at the 57th Congregation of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) for producing an outstanding thesis in his field of study.

Dr. Salifu earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from UCC, an achievement that underscores his dedication to academic rigor and excellence. His remarkable accomplishment adds to an impressive academic portfolio, which includes a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Economics from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from UCC.

Notably, Dr. Salifu holds the distinction of being the first Economist at UDS with an exclusive academic background in Economics. His contributions to academia and research have been remarkable. He has participated in numerous research projects, published peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals, and presented his work at various international conferences, workshops, and training sessions. These engagements have seen him serve in diverse capacities, including as a panelist, presenter, and discussant of research papers.

Dr. Salifu's research interests are vast and impactful, spanning Financial and Monetary Economics. His focus areas include International Financial Institutions, Financial Regulation, Global Imbalances, and Financial Crises, with a special emphasis on developing and transitioning economies.
